Emily Mears Grey, a native of Onancock, Virginia, is a photojournalist, educator and attorney. Several years ago she followed her heart and commenced freelance writing and photography. She also volunteers for various conservation and historical entities and lectures on wildlife gardening and her remote journeys. Antarctica, Borneo and Costa Rica are amongst her latest explorations. Travel, nature and cultures are a few of her favorite things.

Her articles have appeared in Washingtonian Magazine, National Wildlife, Chesapeake Life, WildBird, Richmond Times Dispatch and many state, regional and national publications. She contributes regularly to Virginia Wildlife, Cooperative Living, Virginia Living and Leisure Publications.

Recently, her photo essay, "Natural Selection" won a Virginia Outdoor Writer's Award. "Summer Shade," an image of the James River and Blue Ridge Mountains, won a State Award in 2000-01. Grey hopes that her images and engaging stories will lift the human spirit. emilygrey@intercom.net.
