Mary Bird
Mary Bird, is a writer with a go-to cheerful attitude about life. A translator with fluency in French, Italian, and Spanish, she enjoys travel and writing about it for others. She retired from the United States Department of State as Chief of Translation in 2002.
Following her service with the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Mrs. Bird continues to broaden her understanding of how American society and the arts interact. She served as a consulting editor to The Social Register Observer in New York City and currently writes a biweekly column of event coverage for The Georgetowner and The Downtowner newspapers in Washington, DC. and other freelance outlets. birdmm@verizon.net
