Caribbean: all inclusive resorts
========================
SuperClubs has multiple inclusive resorts available with many different activities and plans throughout the Caribbean. Here are some ideas.
A good resort to visit if you were single and traveling alone Hedonism II & III - 18 and up only; certainly a magnet for singles and this is especially true at Hedonism II (the "original") in Negril, on the west coast of the island, famous for the best beaches in the Jamaica. The resort is also close by to island attractions: Rick's Cafe, a favored hangout to watch the sunset and the acrobatic jumps by cliff divers (also drunken tourists); Margaritaville, a local watering hole and beach concerts with local artists. The resort itself is spread out on more than 20 acres of beachfront property and has 280 comfortable - albeit a little sparse without TVs. This has been a trademark for the resort since it opened in 1976 - the rationale- guests should be partying and not be spending extended time in their room (which by the way have mirrored ceiling above beds). There is a "shared basis" policy for singles traveling alone, i.e. if you want to avoid paying the single supplement, the resort will pair you up with another guest traveling alone of the same sex. Lots of guests are there to meet people so you're among like-minded folks - also quite a bit of resort activities to get to know each other better: circus workshops on the flying trapeze, diving & snorkeling, windsurfing....the more risqué activities include: wet T-shirt contests, body painting, mud wrestling, etc. There is a see-through-bottom Jacuzzi on top of the disco as well as a waterslide. Theme nights include Tuesday's pajama party and Thursday's toga party.
Hedonism III tends to attract more couples looking to spice up their relationship.
Grand Lido Braco, AAA Four Diamond Resort - active, fun and sports-oriented. Guests have access to three golf courses - complimentary greens fees and transfers (caddies are compulsory in Jamaica). Lots of water sports and unique setting in that the resort is a replica of a Jamaican village with a town square, cobblestone streets, fruit and peanut vendors - very laid back. Every Friday night there a huge Street Party - food served on the cobblestone streets, lots of reggae music and dancing plus a beach BBQ on the beach after dinner. Half the resort is "au naturel" with entire room blocks, swimming pool, Jacuzzi, swim up bar and club house (that serves food) - the entire section is clothing optional. There is a single-supplement for guests who are traveling alone (150 % of rates).
These resorts are all-inclusive - so you pay one price up front and there's no need for your wallet during your stay, which includes, accommodations, all meals, unlimited alcoholic drinks, land and water sports, entertainment, hotel taxes, airport transfers and no tipping is permitted on site.

Flying Circus Airshows, Bealeton, Virginia every Sunday (May -October) offers barn storming, antique planes doing aerobatics in the sky. There are
opportunities for visitors ($) to take rides an open cockpit plane. The third weekend in August they host a balloon festival that is exciting and beautiful. We took three generations of singles and their kids last year to an air show that never really got of the ground because of bad weather but everyone had a great time with the exhibits and spending the day out in the country. At Flying Circus Air Show you’ll find lots of things to interest everyone of every age. Picnic grounds on site and a beautiful drive from anywhere in the metro Washington area.

TRAVELING AS A SINGLE PARENT
==============================
One of many nice features of the SingleParentTravel.net site is their documentation section that is updated on a regular basis. Each country has different requirements for single parents traveling with their children but often one of the requirements, in addition to valid passports, is a letter from the non-traveling parent granting permission to take his or her child out of the country.
www.SingleParentTravel.net
The Single Parent Travel Handbook lists the top five destination choices for
single parents and their children as:
Hawaii & A Brief Layover in San Francisco
Riviera Maya (The coastal strip located south of Cancun, Mexico.)
New Orleans, LA
Niagara Falls, NY/Canada
Arizona
KIDS ALSO RULE AT SUPERCLUBS’ FAMILY-FRIENDLY ALL INCLUSIVE RESORTS
Affordable Family Vacations at Breezes Resorts in Curaçao & Dominican Republic with the “Kids Stay, Kids Stay, Play & Eat Free” program offers affordability and child-friendly resort design.
SuperClubs Breezes resorts in Curaçao and the Dominican Republic are waiving their $50 daily rate for children 2 – 13 years of age (one child per paying adult) kids under 2 years stay for free, a single supplement applies for single parents, unless their kid is if over 13 years, in which case they would be considered an adult.
The “Kids Stay, Play & Eat Free” program at Breezes Curaçao is available from May 1 – October 31, and from May 1 – December 24 at Breezes resorts in the Dominican Republic. Week-long trips for a family of four start at $1,470 in Curaçao and $1,092 in Hispanola (based on seven-night stays, land only, with children under 14 years).
Breezes Curaçao offers tantalizing adventures both above and below the waves on the Dutch Caribbean island of Curaçao. Located just two miles from capital city Willemstad, the island’s cultural and historical hub, families vacationing at Breezes are within easy walking distance of the popular Curaçao Seaquarium. Trained instructors are also available for windsurfing lessons and snorkeling classes in the protected reef just off the beach. A private club features personal space for teens and their new-found friends, in areas where no adults (except for supervisors) are allowed. Virgin daiquiris on tap, three restaurants, a beach grill and a SuperKids snack bar provide plenty of fodder for even the fussiest eaters.
SuperClubs’ newest Super-Inclusive additions are Breezes Punta Cana and Breezes Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic. Breezes Punta Cana on the eastern tip of the island boasts white sand beaches and offers aquatic fun in Punta Cana’s largest swimming pool. The children’s section, set within the main pool, allows parents to keep an eye on their kids, while guides are available for catamaran sailings. On land, kids can ice skate, or try airborne adventures on the flying trapeze and enjoy the trampoline.
In the “Port of Silver” of Puerto Plata, golden family memories are formed in this 62-acre resort boasting fully-appointed rooms with stocked mini fridges, and, like its sister resort, plenty of splashing in the largest landscaped pool on the north coast, complete with a designated kid’s zone. A nine-hole pitch & putt, rock-climbing wall and bicycle trails lure the whole family.
All three Breezes resorts offer a variety of age-specific programs – each with a children’s club manned by trained childcare providers. After-hours babysitting services are also available for a nominal fee. As with all SuperClubs resorts, one upfront price includes: accommodations; meals, snacks and premium liquor; land and water sports activities (including equipment and instruction); entertainment, taxes, and as always, no tipping is allowed.
Starfish Trelawny, Jamaica - bargain rates at this newly refurbished resort with plenty of amenities on-site. Not as fully all-inclusive as SuperClubs resorts - which is fine for younger children and parent needs some R&R on the beach. Facilities and landscape at the resort is extremely kid-friendly.
Other amenities include:
Ø The kiddies pool has three sections: a wading pool with a small low-spouting fountain; a fountain pool with 10 spouting fountains for lots of splashing fun in shallow water; a deeper pool featuring a castle platform with a spiral waterslide and cascading fountains from castle walls. Another pool-based favorite for kids is the starfish-shaped cold water Jacuzzi in the middle of the family pool.
Ø A little private island is accessible just off the main beach with a sandbar that kids can wade out and sunbath, relax and play with newfound friends.
Ø Banana boat rides are a popular family activity for both parent and kids.
Ø The Kids Club has different amenities for different age groups. The nap room for toddlers and youngsters has castle-theme bunk beds where kids enter the castle to get to their beds and are able to peek out at their caregivers from castle windows. The toy room is stacked with toys that are stored in cubbyholes and within easy reach. The playroom has desks for arts & crafts and an amphitheatre for talent/fashion shows, show-and-tell, etc. The playroom is also fitted with miniature toilets and vanities especially for kids. Just off the playroom is a Nintendo center with video games. The kid’s center is open to children up to 12 years and costs $5 per child per day.
Ø The Kids Club is located right on the beach. As you exit, the beach grill is right there serving up burgers, hot dogs and for a taste of local culture, jerk chicken and patties. There’s also a playground on the beach with see-saws, swings, spring rides and a toy fort with crawlspace, bridge and three types of slides: tube, curve and wave slides.
Ø Teenagers at the resort have a full roster of activities they can choose from including mini-golf and ice-skating. For your easy reference, I’ve enclosed a copy of the daily activity sheet. These activities are free and open to adults and children 13 years and up.
Ø In addition, a games arcade, rock-climbing wall and circus workshop (learn to fly the trapeze with trained professionals) are available for additional cost.
Ø Hair braiding is also very popular and the spa offers teen facials and manicures and pedicures for kids.
Ø From 7:30 – 10:30 PM, Bubbles Disco is open to children (it’s adults-only from 10:30 PM onwards). Adjoining the disco is “Reggae Rain” – a misting room of sorts, which is a hoot!
Ø Starfish has virgin daiquiris and pina coladas on tap and bartenders can mix Shirley temples to order.
Ø In-room fridges are stocked with sodas for children and these are refilled at no extra cost.
