In the remote and beautiful backcountry of northeastern Pennsylvania, you can discover one of the leading Pocono Mountains resorts that offers plenty of entertainment and activities in a wonderful forested setting, known as Woodloch. Driving along the country road to the resort you may see a bevy of wild turkeys moving into the thick woods before coming up to this sprawling resort surrounded by a serene lake and acres and acres of woodlands.
Blending into the rustic setting, this magnificent property evokes a passion for the outdoors and fun-filled activities, which promises to engage all, from individuals to the entire family. In any one day, a wide variety of activities and entertainment is available, ranging from hotspots basketball contests, trap shoot events and archery tag tournaments to fun filled family bowling venues. At night, the sports and game activities culminate with a sumptuous dinner followed by a theme show and nightclub entertainment. For those individuals looking for more leisure activities, an 18-hole championship golf course at Woodloch Springs and a luxury spa at The Lodge at Woodloch are available, all in this one destination.
The beautiful, natural surroundings are enhanced by its location on Lake Teedyuskung, a natural lake, which provides even more opportunities for outdoor activities and watersports. Yet, what is special at Woodloch is the relaxing and undemanding ambiance.
Back in the day when Harry and Mary Kiesendahl purchased the 12-room boarding house on the shores of Teedyuskung, little did they imagine that the property would grow into a premier resort. Now fifty-five years later, the Kiesendahl family continues the tradition of extending warm hospitality to all of its guests who are treated “as they were company in their own homes.”
On a recent visit, my experience at the Woodloch Pines Resort was heightened by the beauty of its setting, overlooking the lake along a good portion of its three-mile shoreline. The view captures a feeling of harmony in a tranquil setting. Being outdoors provides the inspiration for planning how I’ll spend my day and evening here.
Playing a round of golf at Woodland Springs provides a challenge, as well as more time to experience the beauty of the natural surroundings. After an invigorating day in the fresh air, I was ready to unwind at the The Lodge Spa.
This peaceful setting is just what everyone needs to feel relaxed and content. While most of us seldom have the luxury to spend a full day at the spa, it is also unlikely that one can find another destination spa like Woodloch in the Poconos. The Caviar Facial reminds me of an exceptional cuisine, with the fine quality of this treatment.
Taking time to indulge at this luxurious spa heightens one’s sense of well-being, which for me means finding the perfect escape from a hectic life. In the spa restaurant you’ll continue the journey with fresh, local, seasonal food served in a beautiful setting. Why isn’t this a perfect day?
I noticed other guests shared a sense of excitement and exhilaration but also exhibited their own individual interests while at the spa. The indoor heated swimming pool with cascading waterfalls proved to be deliciously soothing and an unexpected pleasure.
Other spa activities included creative arts where we designed our own silk painted scarves.
Woodloch is the quintessential all- encompassing resort that offers something for everyone and yet it is still a special place to connect, relax, and spend time with family and friends in a spectacular setting.
